(has anyone seen the movie Up? In it the dog Doug has to wear the 'cone of shame' as a punishment for being bad. When my parents were here, they used this boppy pillow to make their own 'collar of shame' and had fun trying to put it on each other. So here is Brayden in the collar, and his favorite pastime, the DS)

I cannot believe that we have an almost 8 year old. It was really weird attending our wards baptism preview (a meeting for all kids turning 8 this year to teach them a little bit about getting baptized) It seems like we just moved here, and he had just turned 4. 4 was an easy age for me to see him at...4 does not seem like it was that long ago, but it's half his life!

Brayden is an easy going kid that loves his electronics. He has pretty much mastered Fossil Fighters for DS and LOVES LOVES LOVES anything that has to do with the Wii, DS or Computer. His best friend is Jack. They are two peas in a pod. Jack called one day and they spent an hour and a half (yes that is 1.5 hours) on the phone playing the same video game and telling each other about the moves they were making with an occasional air high five thrown in. It was quite possibly the funniest/cutest thing I have ever seen Brayden participate in. He is becoming quite the reader (when he wants to be) and has a knack for numbers. He loves anything to do with dinosaurs and sharks and reptiles. When he goes to the library at school he only check out nonfiction (like father like son).

We went to his parent teacher conferences in December and we were pleasantly surprised to find out that Brayden is one of the most popular boys in the class! His teacher asked us if he ever said it bothered him that so many people were always fighting over working with him (serious, those were the words she used, I am not just making him sound as great as he is ;) He is a likable kid, but we were a little shocked. After hearing that it came as no surprise that he was elected to represent their class at the student council. Pretty cool!

He is a pretty great helper at home (when you can get him to unfocus from the DS). He has been a lifesaver when it comes to helping his sisters and keeping the occupied. I am so glad that he and Audri get along for the most part. They actually LIKE each other for now, and I am keeping my fingers crossed that it mostly stays that way. We are lucky to have such an easy going fun loving boy!
